Overview:
These engaging, audio-visual presentations explore the lives and works of famous artists through images, stories, songs, humor and sometimes, role “modeling”. This year’s program focuses on one of America’s most loved artists, Norman Rockwell. During his lifetime, Rockwell produced more than 4,000 images that tell the story of the American experience during the 20th century. Perfect for bringing out fond memories of everyday life, and sparking fun interactions among participants.

Rotating Options Include: (each presentation lasts about 75 minutes)
  • ”Norman Rockwell’s Chronicles of 20th Century America” Travel down memory lane through a sampling of Rockwell’s illustrations featuring the early automobile and airplane, to man’s first footprints on the moon. As an artist, he documented pivotal events in a changing America, along with everyday experiences, and captured them all with an attention to detail and authenticity uncharacteristic of his time.
  • “Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of Artist Norman Rockwell” Take an imaginary visit to Rockwell’s studio for a glimpse into his life and work. Learn about the challenges he faced as a professional artist, and the detailed process he used to create his famous illustrations.”Norman Rockwell: Favorites, Fans and Fakes!” Uncover one of his rare published mistakes and hear about what happened when someone was going around impersonating him! We’ll also hear about some of the fan mail he received, and who some of his favorite models were and why.
  • “Norman Rockwell: Fans, Fakes and Favorites!” In this lively presentation we discover who some of Rockwell’s favorite models were, what paintings were favorites of his fans, a look into the fan mail he would receive, and the real stories behind the “Fake Norman Rockwells”!
  • “How Norman Rockwell Created Stories Without Words” We all know the adage that a picture is worth a thousand words. Join us as we revisit some of Rockwell’s most beloved story illustrations to uncover his unique way of bringing those words to life!
  • “Norman Rockwell and Grandma Moses” What was it about these two American artists that made their art so collectable and inspiring?
